Back at the beginning of the year, we made a donation to the Looe junior Sailing club, primarily to help them with general equipment, and to renovate two of their sailing mirrors. The overall aim of this was to help the club achieve their goal this season, which was to get local youngsters out on the water, build their confidence and teach them new skills, not to mention being great for socialising!
This year turned out to be a great year for the juniors' club, with an excellent turn out, plenty of fine weather and calm seas. Meeting on a Saturday morning, the juniors assist in launching the boats ready for many hours of learning the ropes, sailing in and around Looe harbour and the surrounding waters. Good fun and very scenic for all!
Whilst all of the juniors progressed immensely, there were 3 in particular, who were presented with 'most improved of the year' trophies at the annual presentation evening on the 29th September. These were:
- 1st - Leo Southern
- 2nd - Isaac Chudleigh
- 3rd - Mia Saddler
A big pat on the back is certainly deserved for all the youngsters involved, as well as Dave Juleff & the Looe Sailing Club for what they've achieved.
